What does Adyen refusal reason 5 “Blocked Card” mean?
Checked
Adyen refusal reason 5, "Blocked Card", means the card used for the transaction is blocked and therefore unusable. The bank, or sometimes the cardholder, has switched it off, so retrying the same card will fail every time. The shopper needs another card, and the store should not run the same card again, because repeated attempts on dead cards cost fees and look like card testing.

What PlatformDTC does
PlatformDTC does not connect to Adyen; its checkout runs on Stripe and PayPal. When Stripe reports a card the bank will not let be used again (lost, stolen, pick up, restricted), PlatformDTC never auto-retries the renewal and emails the customer a one-click link to update their card.
Why it happens
Issuers block cards after loss or theft reports, suspected compromise, or at the cardholder's request. Adyen's raw responses include, for example, 9G Blocked by cardholder.
What the shopper can do
This card will not work. Pay with another card and call your bank if you did not block it yourself.
What the store can do
Stop retrying the card. For subscriptions, contact the customer and ask them to update their payment details.
For developers
resultCode "Refused", refusalReasonCode "5". Check additionalData.refusalReasonRaw: if it is a Visa category 1 response (04, 07, 41, 43, 46 and others), Visa charges a fee on every reattempt.
