What does Adyen refusal reason 11 “3D Not Authenticated” mean?
Checked
Adyen refusal reason 11, "3D Not Authenticated", means 3D Secure authentication was not executed, or did not execute successfully. The shopper may have closed the bank's verification screen, failed the challenge, or the step never ran. A retry with the shopper present to complete 3D Secure often succeeds; a renewal charged without the customer cannot pass it.

What PlatformDTC does
PlatformDTC does not connect to Adyen; its checkout runs on Stripe and PayPal. A card failing the bank's 3D Secure check arrives as Stripe's payment_intent_authentication_failure; PlatformDTC never retries that off-session and asks the customer to confirm the payment with their bank.
Why it happens
3D Secure asks the cardholder to prove it is them, through a banking app, code or password. Abandoning or failing that step ends the payment with code 11.
What the shopper can do
Pay again and finish the verification your bank shows (app approval, text code). Make sure pop-ups are not blocked.
What the store can do
Encourage a retry with a clear message. Do not retry silently in the background; 3D Secure needs the shopper.
For developers
refusalReasonCode "11". Compare with 38 Authentication required (the issuer refused an exemption) and 42 3DS Authentication Error (a technical fault in the network or issuer).
