Is PlatformDTC always cheaper?

No. PlatformDTC always costs less than Shopify Basic, which has the same card rate plus a plan price, and less than every plan when you take cards through another payment provider on Shopify. On Grow or Advanced with Shopify Payments, Shopify’s lower card rate outweighs its plan price once sales are high enough. The calculator shows that case as it is.

Why is Shopify Plus not in the calculator?

Shopify publishes only that Plus starts at $2,300 a month and that its card rates are custom. Without a published rate there is nothing honest to calculate.
