PlatformDTC Checkout + express wallets

Recognise a returning customer by their email or device, so they can pay with one tap.

One tap

Apple Pay on iOS, Google Pay elsewhere and PayPal alongside both — offered on the product page, not just at checkout.

No third-party host

Checkout is served from the store’s own domain, so the shopper never crosses onto a third party between the cart and the confirmation.

Wallets and cards

Apple Pay and Google Pay, PayPal once it is connected, and Klarna where the store qualifies, plus every card your account accepts.
Learn more about express checkout

Get the perfect checkout for your brand with advanced customizations

Customise your checkout—and its express wallets—with apps and branding tools, without sacrificing security or performance.

Apps for every checkout

Install an app to extend the checkout, or build your own — it installs through OAuth and acts on the store with a scoped token you can revoke.

Custom content

Add a banner or a message to the checkout — a shipping note, a warning, a disclaimer.

Product offers

Offer a one-click upsell after the order is placed, on the merchant’s own thank-you page.

Express your brand

The checkout editor sets logo, colour, typography and radius, and the chrome derives from your background so the whole page stays coherent. The same values are readable and writable over the API.

Developer platform

Build on PlatformDTC Checkout

Apps act on a merchant’s store through the Agent Gateway — the same scoped, idempotent, job-aware API our own agents use.

Install through OAuth

A merchant installs your app and PlatformDTC mints a scopedsq_agt_* token bound to that store. Scopes, jobs, idempotency and webhooks behave exactly as they do for agents, because it is the same credential.

Distribute on your terms

Today you ship an API app by custom distribution: share an install link with the merchants you onboard, and it is live for them immediately.

Reviewed, versioned, revocable

Every app version passes review before a merchant can install it, versions supersede rather than overwrite, and a merchant can revoke the token from their dashboard at any time.

PlatformDTC Checkout features

Quick visual customizations

Set the colour scheme, typography and logo, and the rest of the page chrome derives from them.

Advanced visual customizations

Go past the presets: set the radius, spacing and typography scale, and the values are readable and writable over the API.

Add functionality with apps

Add post-purchase pages, tracking pixels and more through apps a merchant installs — and can revoke — themselves.

Express checkouts

Let a returning shopper pay in one tap with Apple Pay, Google Pay or PayPal, or pay later with Klarna where the store qualifies.

Flexible shipping options

Offer the shipping methods and rates you set, priced by the destination the shopper enters.

In-store pickup

Give shoppers another way to quickly get their purchase with in-store pickup.

More ways to pay

Take every card your payments account accepts, alongside the express wallets and your own discount codes.

Pay in installments

Let shoppers split the cost with Klarna or Afterpay, offered when the shopper’s country and cart make them eligible.

Sell on subscription

Sell the same catalogue as a recurring plan, with the billing, retries and cancellation handling already built in.

Safe, secure, trusted

Card details go straight to the payment provider’s hosted fields and never touch a PlatformDTC server.

Always mobile-first

PlatformDTC Checkout is a fully responsive, mobile-first experience, so shoppers can buy on any device.

Text messaging consent

Boost repeat purchases by collecting marketing consent, so you can stay in touch with your customers.

Turn data into action

Meta Pixel and Google Analytics fire from checkout on your own store’s configuration, so attribution stays yours.

Frequently asked questions

What is the single biggest cause of cart abandonment?
Unexpected costs appearing at checkout, cited by 39% of shoppers — shipping, tax or fees that were not visible when they decided to buy. It is also the most fixable, because it is a disclosure-timing problem rather than a pricing one: costs that are knowable earlier should be shown earlier.
Why is mobile abandonment so much higher?
Mobile abandons at 75.50%, about 6.5 points above tablets, and the attributed causes are fragmented flows and form complexity. Field count and flow length cost disproportionately on a small screen with an on-screen keyboard, which is why accelerated checkout for returning customers outperforms incremental layout work — it bypasses the problem rather than optimising around it.
What is a realistic conversion rate to aim for?
Compare within your category, because industry is the largest variable by far. Food and beverage converts at 4.5–6.1% while luxury and jewellery runs 0.87–1.46%. On Shopify the average is 1.4%, with 3.2% placing a store in the top 20%. Consideration length explains most of the spread.
Why is my conversion rate falling while revenue grows?
Almost always traffic mix rather than anything broken. Scaling paid acquisition brings visitors in earlier in their consideration, which lowers the ratio while raising absolute orders. Segment conversion by channel before concluding the checkout needs work.
