What does PayPal processor response code 6300 mean?
Checked
PayPal processor response code 6300 (ACCOUNT_NOT_ON_FILE) means the card's bank has no record of the account, so it can't approve the payment. The number may be wrong or the card no longer exists. Retrying won't work. The shopper should re-check the card number or use another card; merchants should ask for new card details.

What PlatformDTC does
PlatformDTC treats 6300 as invalid_account, a hard decline. On either retry schedule (the default Fixed schedule or Smart retry), nothing is retried on the same card; the merchant dashboard says the customer needs to pay with a different card, and the customer receives a signed update-card link (no login) plus up to 4 reminders per billing cycle.
Why it happens
The bank looked for the account and didn't find it on file: a typo, a replaced card or a closed account.
What the shopper can do
Enter the number again carefully, or pay with another card.
What the store can do
Ask for an updated card rather than retrying.
If many shoppers see 6300, check your card form's data handling.
For developers
PayPal returns 6300 in processor_response.response_code on the capture (purchase_units[].payments.captures[]) or authorization of a card payment. PayPal's own name for it is ACCOUNT_NOT_ON_FILE.
Keep the raw code with the order. PayPal's label is the only official meaning, and the exact code tells support which branch of PayPal's table fired.
