What PlatformDTC does

PlatformDTC does not connect to Braintree. Its rule for faults like this is to never blame the subscriber: a fault on the account side rather than the card (a revoked key, lost access to the store's account, an outage) is not booked as the customer's decline: the renewal stays due, is re-charged by a 15-minute sweep once fixed, and the subscriber gets no “payment failed” email.

Why it happens

Braintree attributes it to a connectivity or account setup issue, varying by region.

What the store can do

If you see it on many transactions, contact Braintree. Do not treat these customers as declined.

For developers

Braintree returns processor_response_code 2025 with processor_response_text “Set Up Error – Merchant” and processor_response_type “soft_declined” on the Transaction object.
