What PlatformDTC does
PlatformDTC does not connect to Braintree. On its Stripe checkout PlatformDTC reads Stripe's label plus the raw network code, and any never-approve answer from either stops renewal retries and sends the subscriber a link to update the card.
Why it happens
The issuer rejected the card details as unusable. Braintree does not narrow it down further.
What the store can do
Ask the shopper for another card or PayPal.
For developers
Braintree returns processor_response_code 2029 with processor_response_text “Set Up Error – Card” and processor_response_type “hard_declined” on the Transaction object.
