What does Braintree 2040 “Invalid Store” mean?
Checked
Braintree 2040 “Invalid Store” means there may be an issue with your account configuration. It is a soft decline. Braintree advises letting the shopper try again, and contacting Braintree if the decline persists. A repeated 2040 is a setup problem on your side, not the shopper's card.

What PlatformDTC does
PlatformDTC does not connect to Braintree, so store IDs inside Braintree have no equivalent. Faults on PlatformDTC's own side of a renewal leave the charge due and re-try it automatically every 15 minutes, without counting it against the subscriber.
Why it happens
The store identifier tied to your merchant account is not recognised by the processor.
What the store can do
Retry once, then contact Braintree.
For developers
Braintree returns processor_response_code 2040 with processor_response_text “Invalid Store” and processor_response_type “soft_declined” on the Transaction object.
