What PlatformDTC does
PlatformDTC does not connect to Braintree, so a Braintree client ID has no equivalent there. When a renewal fails because PlatformDTC's key or account access is wrong, it is held as due and swept again every 15 minutes, never emailed to the subscriber as a failed payment.
Why it happens
The client identifier tied to your account at the processor is not recognised.
What the store can do
Retry once, then contact Braintree with an example transaction.
For developers
Braintree returns processor_response_code 2042 with processor_response_text “Invalid Client ID” and processor_response_type “soft_declined” on the Transaction object.
