What PlatformDTC does

PlatformDTC does not connect to Braintree. Stripe splits this into lost_card and stolen_card; PlatformDTC treats lost as a dead card and stolen as a fraud stop, so neither is retried or moved to a backup processor.

Why it happens

The card was blocked after a lost or stolen report. A replacement card will carry a new number.

What the store can do

Ask for another method. Watch for the same visitor trying several cards.

For developers

Braintree returns processor_response_code 2053 with processor_response_text “Card reported as lost or stolen” and processor_response_type “hard_declined” on the Transaction object.
