What PlatformDTC does
PlatformDTC does not connect to Braintree, so this authorization lookup error has no counterpart there. On its Stripe rail an error on the processor side, not the card, defers a renewal with no retry used and no “payment failed” email.
Why it happens
The authorization referenced, for example in a capture, does not exist at the processor, or the processor does not support the action requested.
What the store can do
Contact Braintree support with the transaction ID.
For developers
Braintree returns processor_response_code 2036 with processor_response_text “Authorization could not be found” and processor_response_type “hard_declined” on the Transaction object.
