What PlatformDTC does
PlatformDTC does not connect to Braintree. Network trouble on its Stripe checkout comes back as processing_error or issuer_not_available, which PlatformDTC treats as temporary and retries on renewals at +2, +5 and +8 days; if PlatformDTC cannot reach Stripe at all, the renewal is deferred, not declined.
Why it happens
An outage or connection problem between Braintree, the processor and the card networks.
What the shopper can do
Wait a moment and try again; the card is likely fine.
What the store can do
Retry after a short wait and check Braintree's status. Do not email customers that their card failed.
For developers
Braintree returns processor_response_code 3000 with processor_response_text “Processor Network Unavailable – Try Again” and processor_response_type “soft_declined” on the Transaction object. Braintree's Visa table lists 3000 under category 2.
