What PlatformDTC does
PlatformDTC does not connect to Braintree. When PlatformDTC itself cannot reach the processor on a renewal, it defers the charge instead of declining it: no invoice, no retry used and no “payment failed” email.
Why it happens
Data exchanged with the processor did not line up, so the payment was not completed.
What the store can do
Offer the shopper another payment method and report repeated cases to Braintree.
For developers
Braintree returns processor_response_code 2033 with processor_response_text “Inconsistent Data” and processor_response_type “hard_declined” on the Transaction object.
