What does Braintree 2014 “Processor Declined – Fraud Suspected” mean?
Checked
Braintree 2014 “Processor Declined – Fraud Suspected” means the shopper's bank thinks the payment may be fraud. Braintree types it hard: the shopper must contact the bank before it can pass. It maps to Visa category 2, so retries are allowed up to 15 in 30 days, but retrying before the shopper calls the bank just asks the fraud model the same question.

What PlatformDTC does
PlatformDTC does not connect to Braintree. On Stripe a bank fraud suspicion usually arrives as do_not_honor over raw Visa 59; PlatformDTC reads the raw code, never retries 59 on renewals, and at checkout offers PayPal card fields only with 3-D Secure.
Why it happens
The bank's fraud model flagged something unusual: a new merchant, a foreign site, a large amount or a different device. Often the cardholder is genuine and a quick call unblocks the card.
What the shopper can do
Call the number on the card, confirm the purchase was you, then try again.
What the store can do
Ask the shopper to approve the purchase with their bank, then try once more. 3-D Secure, where available, helps because it lets the bank confirm the cardholder.
For developers
Braintree returns processor_response_code 2014 with processor_response_text “Processor Declined – Fraud Suspected” and processor_response_type “hard_declined” on the Transaction object. Braintree maps it to Visa category 2 (issuer cannot approve at this time): at most 15 retries in 30 days.
