What does Braintree 2015 “Transaction Not Allowed” mean?
Checked
Braintree 2015 “Transaction Not Allowed” means the bank refused for an unspecified reason, possibly a problem with the card itself or a block on this kind of purchase. It is a hard decline, and Braintree maps it to Visa category 1: never retry it. The shopper should call the bank or pay another way.

What PlatformDTC does
PlatformDTC does not connect to Braintree. Stripe's transaction_not_allowed is the same refusal; PlatformDTC never retries it on renewals, but at checkout it may offer the shopper PayPal card fields when the store has set PayPal card payments as its backup.
Why it happens
The card may not be enabled for online, foreign or certain merchant types, or the bank restricted the account. The bank does not tell the merchant which.
What the store can do
Ask for a different card or PayPal. Do not set up automatic retries for this code; Visa fines category 1 retries.
For developers
Braintree returns processor_response_code 2015 with processor_response_text “Transaction Not Allowed” and processor_response_type “hard_declined” on the Transaction object. Braintree maps it to Visa category 1 (issuer will never approve): Visa fines every retry of the same card.
Frequently asked questions

- No. It comes from the shopper's bank, not your Braintree settings.
- Can I retry 2015 tomorrow?
- No. Braintree maps it to Visa category 1, meaning the issuer will never approve; every retry can be fined.
