What does Braintree 2019 “Invalid Transaction” mean?
Checked
Braintree 2019 “Invalid Transaction” means the bank declined because the card does not support this type of transaction, for example an FSA debit card used for a non-healthcare purchase. It is a hard decline and Visa category 1, so do not retry it. The shopper should use another card or ask their bank.

What PlatformDTC does
PlatformDTC does not connect to Braintree. The network's invalid-transaction answer is Visa 12, which is on PlatformDTC's never-retry list: renewals stop and the subscriber is asked for another card instead of being charged again.
Why it happens
Special-purpose cards (health savings, benefit or corporate cards) only work at certain merchant types. A purchase outside that scope is refused.
What the store can do
Ask for a regular credit or debit card, or PayPal. No setting on your side changes this.
For developers
Braintree returns processor_response_code 2019 with processor_response_text “Invalid Transaction” and processor_response_type “hard_declined” on the Transaction object. Braintree maps it to Visa category 1 (issuer will never approve): Visa fines every retry of the same card.
