What PlatformDTC does

PlatformDTC does not connect to Braintree; its PayPal rail talks to PayPal directly, so PayPal's own address and Seller Protection checks apply there in the same way. Its checkout also blocks risky payments by country, email domain and device rules the store sets.

Why it happens

The address sent was badly formatted, so PayPal could not match it for Seller Protection.

What the store can do

Check address fields (state, postcode, country codes) in your integration. Ask the buyer to try another method.

For developers

Braintree returns processor_response_code 2059 with processor_response_text “Address Verification Failed” and processor_response_type “hard_declined” on the Transaction object.
