What does Braintree 2065 “Refund Time Limit Exceeded” mean?
Checked
Braintree 2065 “Refund Time Limit Exceeded” means PayPal requires refunds within 180 days of the sale, and this one is later, so it cannot be processed. It is a hard decline. To give the buyer money back, you will need another method outside the original PayPal transaction.

What PlatformDTC does
PlatformDTC does not connect to Braintree; its PayPal rail talks to PayPal directly, so PayPal's 180-day refund window applies to PayPal orders there exactly as it does through Braintree.
Why it happens
The sale is older than PayPal's 180-day refund window.
What the store can do
Arrange the refund another way, and refund promptly in future.
For developers
Braintree returns processor_response_code 2065 with processor_response_text “Refund Time Limit Exceeded” and processor_response_type “hard_declined” on the Transaction object.
