What PlatformDTC does
PlatformDTC does not connect to Braintree. On its own PayPal rail the same state is PayPal's PAYEE_ACCOUNT_RESTRICTED, which PlatformDTC treats as the store's problem, not the subscriber's: renewals are paused with no customer email and no failed attempt counted, retried automatically at most every 12 hours, and the merchant gets a dashboard alert to fix the PayPal account.
Why it happens
PayPal limits accounts for reasons such as missing information or a review.
What the store can do
Log in to PayPal, complete whatever it asks for, and contact PayPal Support.
For developers
Braintree returns processor_response_code 2066 with processor_response_text “PayPal Business Account Restricted” and processor_response_type “hard_declined” on the Transaction object.
