How do Portuguese shoppers pay online?

Checked

Portuguese shoppers pay online with Multibanco and MB WAY as well as cards. Multibanco gives the shopper a voucher with an entity number, a reference and the amount, which they pay through online banking or at an ATM within 7 days. MB WAY is a phone wallet: the shopper enters their phone number and approves in the app within 4 minutes. Klarna offers pay later up to €500 and pay in 3 in Portugal.

What PlatformDTC does

PlatformDTC checkout does not offer Multibanco or MB WAY today. Shoppers in Portugal can pay by card, Apple Pay, Google Pay, PayPal in euros, or Klarna on one-time orders from €1 to €4,000 when the store's Stripe account is in the EEA, UK or Switzerland.

Multibanco versus MB WAY

Multibanco is a delayed payment: the order waits until the shopper pays the reference. MB WAY is approved in the app within minutes, but each user has a daily limit, €1,000 by default.
