How do Norwegians pay online?
Checked
Norwegians pay online by card and with Vipps, which Stripe calls a common payment method in Norway. Vipps is a card wallet: the shopper enters the phone number linked to Vipps and approves a push notification in the app. Many Norwegian cards carry BankAxept, the local card network, which Stripe doesn't support, so those cards run on Visa or Mastercard. Klarna offers pay in full, pay later, pay in 3 and financing in kroner.

What PlatformDTC does
PlatformDTC checkout does not offer Vipps today. Norwegian shoppers can pay with Visa or Mastercard cards, Apple Pay, Google Pay, PayPal in kroner, or Klarna on one-time orders from NOK 1 to NOK 100,000 when the store's Stripe account is in the EEA, UK or Switzerland.
Vipps for a store
Vipps holds the shopper's card, so the payment behaves like a card payment approved in an app. Stripe lists Vipps as an online-only wallet.
Klarna in Norway
Norway is in the EEA, so stores in the EEA, UK or Switzerland can offer Klarna to Norwegian shoppers, charged in kroner.
