MobilePay for online stores: how Danish and Finnish shoppers pay
Checked
MobilePay is a mobile wallet used in Denmark and Finland, now part of Vipps MobilePay. The shopper is sent to the MobilePay app on mobile, or enters their phone number on desktop and approves a push notification. Behind the scenes it is a card payment: Stripe charges the card stored in MobilePay, so card-style disputes apply. It supports kroner, euros and other Nordic currencies, has no recurring payments, and Danish-registered businesses pay a 35 DKK monthly MobilePay fee.

What PlatformDTC does
PlatformDTC checkout does not show MobilePay today; Danish shoppers can pay by card, Apple Pay, Google Pay, PayPal in kroner, or Klarna on one-time orders up to 100,000 DKK, and Finnish shoppers the same in euros up to €10,000.
How a shopper pays with MobilePay
On mobile the shopper is redirected to the MobilePay app, approves, and comes back. On desktop they enter their MobilePay phone number and approve the push notification. If a card fails inside the app, MobilePay lets them retry with another card before the payment is marked as failed.
What it means for your store
- Disputes work like card chargebacks, and you can submit evidence.
- Some payments need a 3D Secure step inside the app; Stripe estimates about 1–1.5% in Denmark and 5–7% in Finland. Liability shift only applies when 3D Secure happened.
- Stripe does not support Dankort; Dankort-branded cards run on Visa or Mastercard instead.
- Stripe accounts in EU/EEA countries can accept MobilePay; the UK and US are not listed.
