BLIK for online stores: how the 6-digit code payment works
Checked
BLIK is Poland's most common way to pay from a banking app. The shopper opens their bank app, copies a six-digit BLIK code (valid for two minutes) into your checkout, then approves a push notification within 60 seconds; Stripe says most approvals take under ten seconds. BLIK charges in Polish złoty, supports saved recurring payments up to 2,000 PLN per charge, and, unlike most bank payments, does have a dispute process.

What PlatformDTC does
BLIK is not on PlatformDTC checkout today. Polish shoppers can pay by card, Apple Pay, Google Pay, PayPal in złoty, or Klarna on one-time orders up to 20,000 PLN.
How a shopper pays with BLIK
The shopper chooses BLIK and types the six-digit code from their banking app. Their bank then sends a push notification, and they approve the payment in the app. Your checkout page stays open the whole time; on a phone the shopper switches back to it by hand, because BLIK does not redirect them.
BLIK announced on its site that it passed 1 billion transactions in the first eight months of 2023.
Disputes and refunds
When a shopper opens a BLIK dispute, Stripe holds the amount and you have 12 calendar days to answer with evidence such as tracking, delivery proof or a refund record. BLIK charges no dispute fee, gives no fixed decision time, and does not allow appeals. Polish law generally gives shoppers up to 13 months to report an unauthorised payment.
Refunds go back to the shopper's bank account within about two hours and cannot be cancelled.
Saved BLIK for repeat charges
BLIK can be saved for later charges without a new code. The shopper authorises this once in their bank app, and each later charge is capped at 2,000 PLN. They can withdraw permission in their bank app at any time.
