Home goods have more codes than most store owners expect. Furniture and mattresses use 5712, while housewares, bedding, lamps, cookware and decor use 5719. Rugs, curtains, fireplaces, appliances, glassware, hardware, paint, garden supplies, flowers, pools and tents each have their own code. Visa's manual says to use the code for the line that makes up most of your sales.

Furniture or furnishings?
Visa's 5712 covers finished furniture, mattresses, bedding and outdoor furniture. 5719 Miscellaneous Home Furnishing Specialty Stores covers housewares, cutlery, linen, lamps and shades, mirrors and pictures, pottery and ceramics. A home decor brand usually fits 5719; a sofa or mattress brand fits 5712.
Household appliances such as fridges, washers and vacuum cleaners have their own code, 5722, and Visa requires 3D Secure on online 5722 sales for merchants located in the Philippines.
