What PlatformDTC does
PlatformDTC classifies Checkout.com 20014 as never retry. Checkout does not offer a backup processor for it, because the same card or the same details fail the same way everywhere. A subscription renewal declined with 20014 is never retried: the subscription is held past due and the customer is emailed a link to add a new card.
Why it happens
A mistyped digit, an autofill error, or a card that was replaced and closed all produce no such number.
What the shopper can do
Check the 16 digits against the card, or use another card or PayPal.
What the store can do
Show the error next to the card field so the shopper retypes it. Re-sending the same number only collects Visa category 1 refusals.
For developers
The payment comes back with status Declined, response_code 20014 and a response_summary such as "Invalid account number (no such number)" (Checkout.com notes the text can vary by endpoint). Checkout.com's Visa table puts this code in category 1, which it pairs with recommendation code 03 (do not try again); read processing.recommendation_code on the response.
