Trustly for online stores: what it is and how shoppers pay
Checked
Trustly is a pay-by-bank company: instead of typing a card, the shopper chooses to pay from their bank account and approves once in their bank app or national e-ID. Trustly says it covers more than 33 markets across Europe (including the UK and the Nordics) and the Americas (US, Canada and Brazil). It is a separate provider with its own contract; Stripe does not list Trustly as a payment method, but offers its own Pay by Bank.

What PlatformDTC does
PlatformDTC checkout does not connect to Trustly. Shoppers in Trustly's markets can pay with cards, Apple Pay, Google Pay, PayPal where their currency is supported, and Klarna or Afterpay where eligible.
How a shopper pays with Trustly
The shopper picks pay by bank at checkout. Trustly says saved bank details can be pre-filled for returning shoppers, who then approve with a single strong customer authentication in their bank app or e-ID, without leaving the checkout.
Trustly vs Stripe Pay by Bank
Both let shoppers pay straight from a bank account. Trustly is its own company with its own merchant agreement and country list. Stripe's Pay by Bank runs inside a Stripe account: generally available for UK, Irish and Finnish bank accounts, with Belgium, France and Germany in private preview. Pick based on where your shoppers bank and which provider you already use.
