What PlatformDTC does
PlatformDTC classifies Checkout.com 30041 as never retry. Checkout does not offer a backup processor for it, because the same card or the same details fail the same way everywhere. A subscription renewal declined with 30041 is never retried: the subscription is held past due and the customer is emailed a link to add a new card.
Why it happens
The cardholder reported the card lost, so the bank blocks every new payment on it.
What the shopper can do
Use a different card. If this is your card and you found it, the bank will usually still have cancelled it.
What the store can do
Ask for another payment method. Stripe's guidance for its lost_card code is to show the shopper a generic decline rather than the reason.
For developers
The payment comes back with status Declined, response_code 30041 and a response_summary such as "Lost card - Pick up" (Checkout.com notes the text can vary by endpoint). Checkout.com's Visa table puts this code in category 1, which it pairs with recommendation code 03 (do not try again); read processing.recommendation_code on the response.
