How do Turkish shoppers pay online?
Checked
Turkish shoppers pay online overwhelmingly by card. The Interbank Card Center (BKM) counted 3.14 billion e-commerce transactions on Turkish-issued cards in 2025, worth about 7.48 trillion lira. TROY, Turkey's national payment method listed among BKM's services, can be used online, with GO Secure Pay asking the shopper to approve by SMS or in their bank app. BKM's free bex wallet saves a shopper's cards to their phone number so they don't retype them.

What PlatformDTC does
PlatformDTC checkout takes Turkish shoppers' Visa and Mastercard cards, Apple Pay and Google Pay; it does not offer TROY as a network or the bex wallet today. PayPal can't charge in lira, so it shows only when the store prices in a PayPal currency such as euros.
Cards in Turkey
BKM's e-commerce figures cover domestic and international purchases made with cards issued in Turkey. TROY presents itself as a national method that keeps card fees and commissions in the country.
bex at checkout
On sites that accept bex, the shopper picks a saved bank, credit or prepaid card instead of typing card details. bex is free for shoppers.

- PlatformDTC's PayPal button charges in 22 currencies and the Turkish lira isn't one of them.
