v1.93

Sales tax on orders in another currency

Orders paid in a market currency are now taxed. Before this, they were charged without tax.

  • With the Tax app on and Markets active, Stripe Tax calculates tax in the shopper's currency on the prices they see. The checkout, wallet sheet and receipt show it in that currency, and it is exactly what they pay.
  • The order records the tax in your store currency (the Taxes line and analytics), and the tax transaction on your Stripe account is in the currency charged, so refunds reverse the right share of it.
For developers
  • POST /api/v1/checkout/stripe/tax-quote now answers a market cart with presentment: {currency, taxMinor, totalMinor, lines}. taxCents, totalCents and lines stay in store currency.
