Choose your checkout fields

Choose which fields shoppers fill in at checkout, and stop asking for a state where the address has none.

  • Customer information in Settings → Checkout: make the shipping phone number, company name and address line 2 Required, Optional or Don't include, and choose whether shoppers need a first name. See Choose the fields shoppers fill in at checkout.
  • The company name is saved on the order's shipping address.

Changed for shoppers

  • State and postal code follow the country. Checkout asks for a state or province only in countries whose addresses have one (the US, Canada, Australia, Japan and others). UK and European addresses no longer show a required State field. Hong Kong and UAE addresses have no postal code field, and Singapore addresses have no city. Labels match the country: Province, Prefecture, Postcode, PIN code.
  • Apple Pay and Google Pay ask for a phone number only when your store requires one.

Unchanged: stores that existed before this release keep a required phone number until you change it.
