v1.38
Renewals charge the day after payday, in the customer's real time zone
Two corrections to when a renewal is presented to the bank.
Changed
- A renewal that waits for a payday now runs the morning after it, not on the day itself. Measured across 3,214 renewals charged at every hour of the clock, and comparing only charges made in the same part of the day: charges made on the payday were paid 59% of the time, charges made one to three days after it 69%. A deposit posts through payday morning, bank by bank, and a charge sent into that window races it.
Fixed
- Customers whose address spells out their state are billed in their own time zone. An address carrying "Texas" or "Western Australia" instead of TX or WA fell back to the national zone, which charged a Californian at 06:00 and a Perth customer at 07:00 when the store had asked for 09:00.
- Puerto Rico, Guam and the US Virgin Islands are placed on their own clocks rather than on Central US time, and the country list now covers every country an address can carry.
- A subscription with no shipping address uses the customer record's country instead of defaulting to a US calendar — imported subscriptions in particular were being billed on US paydays whatever country the customer lives in.
