Automatic sales tax at checkout

Charge sales tax automatically at checkout in the places you're registered. Off until you turn it on.

  • Settings → Taxes and duties: your business address and product category, your tax registrations (US states, Canada, EU OSS/IOSS, UK and more), and one switch to collect tax at checkout.
  • Tax is worked out by Stripe Tax from the shipping address, shown as its own line before the shopper pays, and recorded on the order (Taxes on the order page and the analytics dashboard).
  • Every taxed sale and refund is recorded on your own Stripe account for your tax reports.
  • Charge tax on shipping rates, on by default, taxes shipping where the law does.
For developers
  • Agent tools dtc_get_tax_settings, dtc_update_tax_settings, dtc_add_tax_registration and dtc_expire_tax_registration (store:read / store:write).
