Fewer lost checkouts on phones and after a decline
Checkout now keeps phone shoppers on track to the card, offers PayPal after a card decline, and shows Link where Google Pay can't appear.
Changed for shoppers
- Mobile Pay bar leads to the card. The Pay bar pinned to the bottom of a phone screen used to submit an empty card when tapped before the shopper reached the card fields. While the card isn't filled in, it now reads Continue to payment, scrolls to the card and opens the keyboard on it. It steps aside once the Payment section is on screen.
- After a card decline, other ways to pay. The message now offers buttons for every other way to pay on the page: Pay with PayPal instead (it switches the payment method to PayPal), the wallets actually shown on that device by name (for example Pay with Apple Pay instead), and Use a different card.
- Link in Express checkout. Stripe Link is back in the Express checkout row, for shoppers Stripe recognises. It works inside the Facebook and Instagram apps on Android, where Google Pay is not available. The card form is unchanged.
