v1.46
Fewer good orders cancelled as Highest risk
Fewer genuine orders are ranked Highest risk and cancelled automatically: 3D Secure-verified payments never are, and a card from another country is no longer a warning.
Fixed
- A verified payment tops out at Elevated. When the card's bank verifies the shopper with 3D Secure, a stolen card has been ruled out and a fraud chargeback is the bank's loss, not yours. Such an order used to be ranked Highest on two warnings, then refunded, blocked and its subscription cancelled by Cancel and refund Highest-risk orders, including when your own Require 3D Secure on risky card payments rule asked for the check. On our stores none of 221 verified orders since July 20 drew a fraud report. The Fraud analysis card now shows The card's bank verified the shopper with 3D Secure.
- A customer's own verified orders don't count as card reuse. A customer's earlier order used to jump to Highest when they paid again on the same card, and both orders were refunded. The same customer's 3D Secure-verified orders on a card no longer count as the card being reused. The same card under a different email still counts.
- A card from another country is no longer a warning. Checkout used to warn when the card was issued in a different country from the delivery address. On our stores those orders drew fraud reports half as often as local cards (0.62% against 1.13%), yet they accounted for a third of automatic refunds, mostly customers in the Caribbean, Australia and Canada ordering for family in the US. The Fraud analysis card still shows the card's country, but it no longer raises the risk level.
- Unchanged: when the card's bank reports fraud or a chargeback opens, the automatic cancel, refund and block still run, whatever the risk level.
