See the money smart retry saved
When a card is declined and your backup card processor takes the payment instead, you can now see how much that saved you.
New
- Recovered by smart retry in Settings → Payments: the money from payments your card provider declined and your backup processor took, in the last 30 days. It only appears once smart retry has saved a payment. See Smart retry.
- Saved by smart retry tag on the order page, next to the payment status, for each order it saved. Hover it to see which provider declined the card and which one took the payment.
Worth knowing
- Smart retry never retries a payment stopped as fraud, or a card the bank says not to retry, such as a lost or stolen card. Visa "suspected fraud" declines are retried only with 3D Secure.
- 1 in 10 eligible declines is not retried on purpose, so we can measure what smart retry adds.
- It works when you have a backup card processor, today PayPal Card Processing set to Backup when a card is declined or card payments are down.
