Subscriptions: which products keep subscribers, and what they return on ad spend
Subscriptions → Home now has one table that shows, product by product, who pays their renewals and whether the ads behind them pay off.
- Out of every 100. For each product, of 100 subscribers whose 1st renewal came due: how many paid it, how many cards were declined, how many cancelled, how many were stopped for fraud and how many removed PayPal. Products are sorted by how many paid, and 70 or more shows in green.
- Why cards were declined. Declines are split into No money, Bank said no, Dead card and PayPal failed, so you can see what's fixable.
- What happens next. How many of the same 100 are still subscribed today, how many paid their 2nd renewal, and how many are still waiting for their 1st charge because it was moved later (a bundle, a skip, or waiting for the first parcel).
- Ads and return. Ad spend, new customers and cost per new customer for each product, its average first order, renewal and 12-month value, and three returns on ad spend: on the first order, by the 1st renewal, and over 12 months. About 2× or more over 12 months is what makes money after costs.
- Small products are folded away. Products with too few subscribers to judge sit behind Show products with fewer than …. A number we can't measure yet is left blank.
