DTCPay Terms

DTCPay is a way to save your card, address and contact details once and use them to check out on online stores built on PlatformDTC that offer it. DTCPay is provided by Legalize Freedom LLC, a Delaware limited liability company doing business as "PlatformDTC" ("PlatformDTC," "we," "us").

These terms explain what you agree to when you create a DTCPay account, what we keep, how DTCPay is used, and how to remove your information. How we handle personal data in general is described in our Privacy Policy.

1. What you agree to

At a checkout that offers DTCPay, just before the Pay button, the checkout shows Save my information for a faster checkout with this line, whichever payment method you choose:

"Terms" links to this page and "Privacy Policy" links to our Privacy Policy. This is consent text version dtcpay-consent-2026-09-28-auto. The version is stored with every consent record, so each record points to the exact text on this page. If the wording changes, it gets a new version and this page is updated.

Not now. The same row has a Not now button. Press it before you pay and no DTCPay account is created from that payment and nothing is saved. You can pay on every store without DTCPay.

2. What DTCPay saves

  • Your contact details and address: the email address, phone number and shipping address you entered at checkout.
  • Your card, only if you typed it in. When you pay with a credit or debit card typed in at checkout, DTCPay can save that card. The card number is stored by our payment processor, Stripe, Inc. PlatformDTC does not store your full card number or security code. We keep the card's brand, last 4 digits and expiry date so we can show you which card is saved, for example Visa •••• 4242. Some checkouts are still being switched over; on those, only your contact details and address are saved.
  • Your devices: for each device where DTCPay remembers you, the website address it was used on, the browser, the IP address, and when it was first and last used.
  • Your consent: when you agreed, the IP address and browser you agreed from, the version of the text shown to you, and the store and order it was given on.

Apple Pay, Google Pay and PayPal are never saved in DTCPay and work as they always have. If you pay with one of them, only your contact details and address are saved.

3. How your DTCPay account is created

Automatically, when you pay. If you pay without pressing Not now, your DTCPay account is created right after the payment succeeds, with the details listed in section 2. No code is needed on the device you paid from. If a card is saved, your card's bank may ask you to verify it (3D Secure).

If your email address already has a DTCPay account, a new card is added to it only from a device that account already recognises. Otherwise nothing is added from that payment.

A welcome email is sent to the email address you paid with, showing what was saved (for example Visa •••• 4242), with a Didn't create this? Remove it link. That link removes the saved card with one click (and the DTCPay account, if nothing else is saved in it) and withdraws your consent. It works for 30 days; after that, use pay.platformdtc.com.

Codes. On a new device you confirm it is you with a 6-digit code or a passkey. A code is sent by text message to phone numbers in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom and Australia, and by email everywhere else. Text messages are sent only for DTCPay codes, never for marketing. Message and data rates may apply.

4. How DTCPay is used

  • You confirm every purchase. When DTCPay recognises you, checkout opens with your details filled in and, if a card is saved, a Pay with DTCPay button. Nothing is charged until you press Pay. DTCPay never charges you automatically. Your card's bank may still ask you to verify a payment.
  • On the same device. DTCPay remembers the device you used for up to one year (see section 6), so you don't need a code there.
  • On a new device, or on another store's checkout, you confirm it is you with a 6-digit code or a passkey before your saved details are shown.
  • Not you? Every recognised checkout shows Not you?. It signs that device out of DTCPay and returns you to a normal checkout.
  • Buy with DTCPay. Some stores show Buy with DTCPay on product pages when DTCPay recognises you. It opens checkout with your details filled in; you still press Pay.

Tracking your order in the DTCPay app. After you pay, the order confirmation page offers Get the app to track that order. You don't need a DTCPay account for this. It opens the order's tracking page at pay.platformdtc.com, where you can add the DTCPay app to your home screen and turn on delivery notifications. That device can then see that order's tracking only, for up to 180 days. If you turn notifications on, we store your browser's notification address for that order until you turn them off.

What stores receive. When you pay with DTCPay, the store you buy from receives the same information as from any checkout: your name, email address, phone number, shipping address, what you bought, and your card's brand and last 4 digits. It never receives your full card number.

The store is the seller. Your purchase is between you and the store. Its own policies cover shipping, returns, refunds and subscriptions. Questions about an order go to the store.

5. Removing your information

Manage DTCPay at pay.platformdtc.com. You sign in there with your email address and a 6-digit code, or a passkey. There you can:

  • remove a card. It is removed from our payment processor for DTCPay and can't be charged through DTCPay again, and your consent for that card is withdrawn;
  • sign out a device, or sign out of every device at once;
  • delete your DTCPay account. This removes all your saved cards and withdraws all your consents. Your order history with the stores you bought from is kept, because stores and PlatformDTC need order records for accounting, tax and dispute handling.

Removing a card or deleting your DTCPay account does not cancel a subscription you started with a store. Manage or cancel a subscription with that store.

Cards that were not saved. When you pay with a typed card at a checkout that uses DTCPay and the card is not saved (for example because you pressed Not now), it may still be held securely with our payment processor so that you can choose to save it after you pay. If you don't save it with DTCPay within 7 days of your purchase, it is removed from our payment processor for DTCPay and is never charged through DTCPay.

6. The dtcpay_device cookie

When your DTCPay account is created, or after you confirm a code or passkey, DTCPay sets one cookie so it can recognise the device next time.

The cookie is HttpOnly (page scripts can't read it) and Secure (sent only over HTTPS). It is set only for that one website address: another store's checkout address never receives it, which is why a new store asks for a code or passkey. It is strictly necessary for DTCPay to recognise you and is never used for advertising or analytics. If you delete it, DTCPay asks for a code next time.

7. Security

Card numbers are held by our payment processor, a PCI DSS Level 1 Service Provider, and never reach PlatformDTC servers. Every DTCPay payment goes through the same fraud checks as any card payment. See our Security page.

8. Who processes your information

We use service providers to run DTCPay, including Stripe, Inc. for storing and charging cards, Twilio Inc. for sending text-message codes, and our hosting providers. The full list, with what each processes and where, is at /legal/subprocessors.

9. Changes to these terms

If we change what you agree to, the consent text gets a new version and this page is updated. Each consent record keeps the version you actually agreed to.
