Pix

Updated

Pix is Brazil's real-time payment system, developed by the Central Bank of Brazil, where shoppers pay instantly from their banking app by scanning a QR code.

At checkout the shopper gets a Pix QR code or a copy-and-paste Pix string, opens their banking app, reviews the payment and approves it. The money moves in real time.

Stripe describes Pix as a real-time payment system developed by the Central Bank of Brazil. Because the shopper pushes the money from their own account, there is no card number and no card chargeback.

For stores selling to Brazil, Pix is one of the methods shoppers expect to see next to cards. Payments are in Brazilian reais.
