Frequently asked questions

Why does requiring a login cost recovered revenue?
Because it inserts a password reset between a customer and their intent to keep paying you. The residual failures that dunning email exists for are the ones where the stored credential is genuinely dead, and in that residual the single largest determinant of recovery is whether the update link works without a login. A meaningful share of customers do not complete a reset to fix someone else's billing problem.
What should an account actually show?
The things that otherwise become support tickets: real order and shipment status, the subscription's next bill date and what is in it, the payment method with an obvious way to replace it, and a self-serve path to skip, swap or pause. Skip and swap in particular save roughly 5–8% of at-risk subscribers who would otherwise cancel.
Do customer accounts help with AI shopping agents?
Not for discovery — an agent evaluating your product never signs in. They matter for the post-purchase half, where an agent acting for a customer may need order status or a subscription change, and where the alternative is a support queue. That is a write path, so it needs scoped credentials and an audit trail rather than a session cookie.
