v1.183

Block risky payments before they're charged

Your checkout now stops card testers and stolen cards before they're charged, and you can block payments by country, card number and email domain.

New

  • A shopper can't try card after card. A shopper who tries a 5th different card within an hour is stopped, even if they change email address or connection. Honest buyers never get near it: in 60 days, no buyer paid with more than 2 different cards in a day.
  • Device recognition. Your checkout recognizes the phone or computer a payment comes from. When a payment is reported as fraud, that device is blocked from paying at your store again.
  • Block risky payments under Settings → Payments → Cards: block cards from chosen countries, shoppers in chosen countries, card numbers starting with chosen digits, and email domains. See Block risky payments.
  • Card verification when countries don't match. One switch asks the shopper to confirm with their bank when the card's country and the shopper's location differ.

Worth knowing

  • With PlatformDTC Payments or your own Stripe account, blocked shopper countries and card numbers are also added to your Stripe block lists, so a payment sent straight to Stripe is refused too.
  • Blocked card numbers also refuse renewals of existing subscribers who pay with those cards. Blocked card countries and email domains apply to checkout only.
