Turning on payments: know what to have ready, and pick up where you left off

Turning on payments now takes one sitting: you see what to have ready, your country is already picked, and if you stop half-way the screen tells you exactly what's left.

New

  • "Takes about 3 minutes. Have ready:" above Start taking payments: your bank account number, your date of birth and home address, the last 4 digits of your SSN (US) or your national ID number where it's asked, and your ID nearby.
  • "You're N steps away from taking payments" when you come back to a form you didn't finish, with each missing thing in plain words. The form opens at your next step; nothing you entered is lost.
  • Prefer PayPal? link under the button, to connect your PayPal business account instead.

Changed

  • Your country is picked for you when your store doesn't have one yet: where you are right now, else your browser's region. One click on change to pick another.
  • Only countries where cards can be taken are listed. Choosing one of the others used to open an account that could never take a card.
  • If Stripe couldn't check a detail you typed, the screen and the reminder email now say what to fix ("check that your name, date of birth and address match your ID exactly, or add a photo of your ID"), instead of asking you to add your name again.
  • Reminder emails name every detail Stripe asks for, including a second ID number, nationality, registered address and the quick selfie check some countries need.
