Only where you're registered

You add each place you hold a sales tax, VAT or GST registration: a US state, a Canadian province or GST/HST, an EU OSS or IOSS scheme, or a country. Shoppers shipping anywhere else pay no tax. We never register you anywhere.

Your Stripe account, your reports

Tax is calculated and recorded on your own Stripe account, the one your PlatformDTC Payments run on. Every taxed sale and every refund is in your Stripe Dashboard under Tax, ready for filing. Refunds reverse the tax automatically.

Set up in Settings

After you install, Settings → Taxes and duties appears. Enter your business address and product category, add your registrations, then turn on Collect sales tax at checkout. Tax stays off until you switch it on, and it can only be switched on once Stripe shows your setup as complete. Charge tax on shipping rates is on by default and can be turned off.

Your assistant can help

Your AI assistant can read your tax settings, add or stop registrations, and turn tax on or off, only when you ask.

Before you install

Tax rides your Stripe charge, so the store's card provider must be PlatformDTC Payments or your own Stripe. While tax is on, PayPal and other non-Stripe payment options are not offered. Orders paid in another currency (Markets) and subscription renewals are charged without tax.

Uninstalling

Uninstalling switches tax off for the store immediately. Your settings and registrations are kept, so if you reinstall they come back with tax switched off until you turn it on again.
